Windham Mountain Lodging
With ski season quickly approaching, now’s the time to book your stay at the Scribner Hollow Lodge while visiting Windham Mountain. Located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, Windham Mountain offers gorgeous scenery and 46 phenomenal ski slopes. Regular hours are 8-4pm. on weekends and 9-4pm. on weekdays. However, from Dec. 17th through February 26th the hours are extended until 9pm. on Fridays, Saturdays, and around holidays.
Windham Mountain offers a variety of different types of lessons for everyone, no matter what the ski level. A one day package for Beginners and Beyond runs between $51-$79 and includes everything one needs to have a successful day of skiing. Private individual or group lessons are also available at a reasonable price. The PowerLearn Ski Clinic is also available for skiers. Featured in the New York Times, this is a clinic you won’t want to miss! It will teach you how to ski no matter what the terrain, using these four principles: equipment, technique, psychology, and customized learning. Some Perks of this program include: season passes, a custom boot footing, video capture of your skiing and review, and 2 days worth of instruction.
Windham Mountain offers many unique and exciting events. Friday nights in January and February is Budweiser’s Friday Night Lights Weekly Race Series. With weekly prizes for winners and an overall title awarded at the end, it’s sure to be Friday Night Fun! Hotel Near Catskill Mountain Halloween Fun

There is great family fun at the Mystery Corn Maze at Hull-O Farms in Durham. Take a fun hay ride on a tractor up to the corn maze. The Massacre Mansion is a Victorian style haunted house that has over thirteen frightening scenes. The Mansion is haunted by Dr. Angus Fear and his brother Edger. Discover all the Dr.’s crazy experiments and adventure through a secret passageway. Not only is the mansion haunted but its grounds have a graveyard that “Crazy Joe” takes care of, an Extreme Darkness haunted house, and Wolf Hollow Fright Trail. The Haunted House is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7-11p.m. and Sundays from 7-9p.m. Stay at the Scribner Hollow Lodge and visit Massacre Mansion if you dare!
Howe Caverns is a wonderfully beautiful nature made cave. In fact, scientists believe that Howe Caverns began to form 6 million years ago! In its 28th year, Halloween at Howe Caverns has opened up its cave for a spectacularly spooky good time! There will be ghosts, witches, and more! This year’s event will be held on October 29th from 5:30-8:30p.m. Adult tickets are only $10 and children 12 and under are $5. The proceeds for this event go to great charities. In the past, this event has raised over $300,000 for organizations like the American Cancer Society. Hunter Mountain NY Oktoberfest Hotel

This German- American festival will be in its second weekend of celebration this October 9th and 10th. This festival is set against the gorgeous New England autumn colors. Jimmy Surr and his orchestra have over 106 recordings of polka music and Jimmy has won eighteen Grammy Awards! The Enzian Bavarian Band has been together for over 34 years producing authentic German music. Capt. Squeeze & Zydeco Moshers plays zydeco music with rock, jazz, and blues influence. The Magic Trunk is an awesome ventriloquist, comedian, and singer will also be performing. Andrew Simmons will also host a spectacular wildlife animal show. He has performed on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Good Day, New York, and more!

Hotel Near Hudson Valley Garlic Festival
The Scribner Hollow Lodge is the perfect place to stay when you are attending the 2010 Hudson Valley Garlic Festival. Festivities begin on September 25th from 10 a.m. until 6p.m. and continue September 26th from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Situated in the Catskill Mountains on the Hudson River, this festival is hosted at Cantine Field in Saugerties New York. Started by Pat Reppert, the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival has been delighting its visitors since 1989.
There are many wonderful things to do at the festival. Go to the Garlic Marketplace with its enormous amounts of gourmet garlic. Check out the arts crafts aisles which will also have garlic inspired pieces! Arts and crafts booths will be selling everything from aprons, jewelry, hats, note cards, pottery, quilts, to tables and MORE!
Children will enjoy the Children’s Craft Tent where they can decorate plump pumpkins, get their faces painted, or climb a rock wall. In addition, there will be tons of great entertainment including Sundad, The Barefoot Boys, and Mark Rust. It will be an educational weekend too, with lecturers and chefs giving their insights into great garlic dishes.
